There is No Guarantee, that Online Learning is Easy

Hearing about the news and what’s breaking the internet had awoken an unnamed sense of dread within me. I haven’t predicted that this pandemic would kill so many people, force cities to lockdown, put our life on hold and shut academic institutions and comprehensively adopt online learning, remote work, and other school related activities.

It is clear that this pandemic has utterly disrupted an education system. For those who do have access to the right technology, there is evidence that learning online can be more effective to them. Educational technology such as apps can help students with time management, organization skills, homework, collaboration and more,(applications that help and keep us, students on track). In response to significant demand, many online learning platforms are offering free access to their services to continue learning. Here are the top 3 best learning applications I personally found beneficial for students that is effective and efficient:

 1.Google Classroom

I personally preferred Google classroom for it is not so load consuming especially when you are just using mobile data. It is easy to setup; Teachers share code with the class and the students can join by just entering the codes. Greater communication because the education apps like google calendar, google Docs, slides and sheets, Gmail, Drive, Forms, Google Meet and many more can be access or connected with just few clicks only. It is free for all users

        2. PhotoMath

It’s best for those students who have difficulty in mathematics like me, true to their slogan “Math Superpowers for Every Student.” I discovered this because my friends are using this app in solving complex math problems. You just have to take a photo of handwritten or printed questions and then it will show the step-by-step process of answering that problem of yours. Have various detailed solving methodsn,Internet is not needed anymore and It is free and available for you to download.

3.Flashcards App

Is free and available for android devices,I use this    to easily memorize the terms that I need to remember. Study & preparation for the incoming exams, create your customized flashcards, can be group according to your desired preferences and have different ways to review the flashcards.

Suddenly, students and educators alike found themselves completely transitioning to a virtual platform. It is challenging for us since we have to adapt to a new softwares/apps and learn how to use them. Many believe that the unplanned and rapid move to online learning – with no sufficient preparation is "unfairness "especially that our society is bracketed according to economic status. Some students without reliable internet access and/or technology struggle to participate in digital learning that causes them to have anxieties and depressions (even resulting to suicides). Personal struggles of students that they can’t focus on their online classes are poverty, some students stay at boarding houses for better signals like me and we don’t know they might have family problems at home. Lame reason for getting distracted is that their social media accounts are also present in their gadgets and they tend to shift their attention to it, especially if they only have 1 gadget but it depends upon a student.

Do you belong to some who agrees that transitioning to online learning a catalyst to create a new effective method of educating students making it a part of a “new normal”? Or do you belong to students who worry that the hasty nature of o-learning may hindered your academic standing? To sum it up, just because the world is in chaos right now doesn't mean you should pause your goals too. Remember everything is dynamic, we can still achieve something while waiting for this pandemic to end. Have gain lessons for us all; there are still hope and ways in which we can achieve success, It is by technology/apps that lessens burden, help ameliorate academic and even personal concerns and makes us “in” to a new normal. But sadly, we don't all have privileges and some has to suffer.
